WHAT IS LION DANCE?
The tradition of Lion Dancing is steeped in mysticism, and began in China over 2000 years ago to celebrate important events such as religious rites and festivals, weddings, or official events to bring good luck and fortune. Our school practices the southern Foshan style.
WHAT DO WE DO?
The Bak Mei Kung Fu Association has been lion dancing in Vancouver since 1972. We have a very skilled and highly-trained Lion Dance team, with some of the most experienced Lion Dancers and coordinators in Vancouver. Some of us were selected to train professionally in Foshan, China, and have in turn passed their skills onto other disciples on our team.
We perform for many events including Chinese New Year, community and charity events, corporate/private events, grand openings, and celebrations. We have even performed for notable events like the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver and for Canada's Prime Minister.

Lion Dance performances are especially suitable for events such as weddings, banquets, festivals, grand openings, and community events. We are highly flexible when it comes to your venue and your needs. Please try to contact us at least a month in advance of your event so that we have time to prepare.
